World Cancer Day

On February 4th we are celebrating World Cancer Day to raise awareness, promote prevention, screening, and treatment for cancer.

Over 18 million new cases of cancer are diagnosed worldwide each year. And the number of deaths stands at 9.6 million. - more than HIV / AIDS, malaria, and tuberculosis combined together.

In Lithuania, almost 50 people are diagnosed with cancer every day, about 110 thousand people currently are suffering from oncological diseases. Cancer is the second most common cause of death in our country.

If we take action now, we will be able to avoid about 50 percent of all malignancies. Thus, it is important to follow a healthy lifestyle and go to the family doctor for a preventive visit at least once a year.

In addition, we would like to remind you that you have the opportunity to participate in free cancer prevention programs:
  • Early diagnosis program for cervical cancer (for 25-60-year-old women)

  • Early diagnosis program for breast cancer (for 50-69-year-old women)

  • Early diagnosis program for prostate cancer (for 50-75-year-old men and 45-year-olds if their parents or siblings had prostate cancer)

  • Early diagnosis program for colon cancer (for 50-74-Year-Olds)

Let's unite to fight cancer!
